Because this part is left intentionally open to individual interpretation is one of the biggest reasons i think this song to be a suicide note because it makes thr lyrics very personal between the narrator and his family he sings of, as they would obviously know what he is referring to. The "cause i remember everything" part can only let the listener imagine what things in the past the family put him through to create this distraught i individual. The line " if i could hold back the rain ( referring to the gloom and sorrow of his death), would you numb the pain" ( asking them to be a part of his life and ease his suffering).
